August is now giving Doorbell Cam and Doorbell Cam Pro users 24 hours of free video recording as part of their new subscription to Basic August Video Recording.
Users can now watch and access any video recorded on an August device in the last 24 hours with the activity feed in the August application. August suggests that it could help users identify visitors at their door to those who have been lost earlier in the day or review suspicious activities. "Now if you lose a movement notification or experience that a porch pirate comes out with a package from your door, you can access and review the video stored from the August app," said Jason Johnson, CEO of August Home, in a statement. .
The new August agreement that offers the free recording seems to be an attempt to remain competitive against smart brands such as Ring, which was purchased by Amazon last month for more than $ 1 billion.
Before the update, I had to pay to store videos, since there was not a free cloud storage option. A premium video recording subscription, which allows users to store video history for 30 days, costs $ 4.99 per month or $ 49.99 for a one-year plan.
