Google is celebrating Mario's Day (March 10, MAR10) in style this year. Nintendo and Google have partnered to bring Mario to Google Maps on iOS or Android. Mario Time, as Google calls it, will be available in the latest Google Maps mobile applications starting today. A new yellow icon "?" Will appear Together with the destinations, which will allow Mario to become the navigation arrow in his kart and accompany him throughout his daily journey.
There will be no red shell or banana throws along the route, so if you are leading the group, then you do not need to worry about a spiny shell surprise at all. Mario will be available as a simple placeholder on Google Maps around the world for a week. There is even a hidden Easter egg: if you touch the icon "?" 100 times, you'll hear a 1-UP sound like in Nintendo games.
While you may expect to see this kind of trick on April Fool's Day, this is not the first time that Google has customized the appearance of Google Maps. Google transformed its Maps placeholder into a TIE fighter or an X-wing in 2015 to celebrate the launch of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Google Maps was also transformed into Mrs. Pac-Man for April Fool's Day last year.
