Microsoft is altering the way he activates his digital assistant Cortana with his voice. The first Invoke loudspeaker powered by Cortana now allows users to simply summon the digital assistant using "Cortana" instead of the usual "Hey Cortana" command. The change is not live in Cortana for iOS, Android or Windows 10, but it will probably appear soon. Microsoft says it implemented the change last week for speaker Invoke.
Moving to just Cortana makes the Microsoft assistant as easy to invoke as Amazon's Alexa. Microsoft and Amazon partnered last year to further integrate Alexa and Cortana, so both attendees can be used on rival devices. That work was supposed to be available before the end of 2017, but it clearly took longer than expected. In a recent Windows Insider podcast, Microsoft officials revealed that they are currently testing the integration internally, but there is no firm date for its release to the public.
