Porsche has not avoided giving a big boost to electrification in its future production line, which has even significantly boosted its investment in complete electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids. But a type of propulsion may be running on a borrowed time at the German automaker.
According to Autocar, Porsche has suspended the production of cars with diesel engines. The automotive publication based in the United Kingdom reported on Tuesday that all models equipped with diesel engines have been ruled out due to a problem of emissions compliance for European markets. Instead of modifying the 3.0-liter V6 turbo diesel engine in the Macan SUV, the company has decided to stop offering it completely. The engine was also used in the Panamera hatchback and in the Sport Turismo wagon.
