For anyone who suffers a long wait while trying to upload large video files and photos to their computer, there is a new Kickstarter for a portable hard drive that says you can back up your files and offer more file upload services fast you can use right after taking pictures. The company suggests that you can get rid of taking your laptop to outdoor photo shoots and, instead, use your mobile application to edit files and upload them to Dropbox.
Kickstarter is for a device called Gnarbox 2.0, which allows you to insert your SD card into your hard drive and use it as an additional backup tool. It is an update of its predecessor, Gnarbox 1.0, which already offered a solution for loading and storing large and mobile files also through Kickstarter. The company of the same name delivered successfully in Gnarbox 1.0 in 2015. Gnarbox 2.0 has already exceeded its Kickstarter goal of $ 75,000, and, at the time of this writing, it has raised $ 422,590.
Gnarbox 2.0, which comes with 1TB of storage, is compatible with Samsung Galaxy S6 through S9 phones, Google Pixel and most Apple devices. Both Gnarbox 1.0 and its previous application of 2014 continue to receive support, but the company has launched a new version of the mobile application on iOS and Android.
The application now has tools like Sequence, which allows you to play video recordings on your phone and select video segments that you want to edit. Gnarbox also partnered with Adobe Lightroom and Dropbox for easier software integrations. The idea is that, after editing on the fly and doing what you can, you can go back home and finish the job with the full version of Adobe software for publication.
The company says delivery can be expected in September of this year, but as with most Kickstarters, delivery is not guaranteed.
